Led by Kevin Scott, The Moment Speaks is an immersive, genre-less master class for musicians who want to unlock fearless improvisation and deepen their creative instincts. This class is designed for players of all backgrounds to discover their authentic voice, break free from familiar patterns, and tap into the raw, honest sound of now. Whether you’re refining your expression or seeking new creative ground, this experience will help you listen deeper, respond intuitively, and play what the moment demands.

Bio:

Kevin Scott is a genre-defying bassist and producer known for his deep pocket, adventurous spirit, and boundless versatility. Based in Brooklyn, NY by way of the South, Kevin has toured and recorded with legends across jazz, rock, funk, hip-hop, and experimental music, including John McLaughlin, Wayne Krantz, Jimmy Herring, Govt Mule, Russell Gunn, Donny McCaslin, FORQ, and Col. Bruce Hampton. Equally at home in the studio or on stage, his sound fuses raw improvisation with deep groove and sonic exploration. Kevin is also a dedicated educator, a co-founder of the experimental label 29th Street Editions, and a driving force behind projects like WAXpaper and Wednesday Night Titans (with drummer Zach Danziger). Whether anchoring a band or pushing musical boundaries, he brings intensity, heart, and instinct to everything he plays.

The John Arrucci Trio with Jon Cowherd & Viktor Krauss

Friday, June 27th, 2025 | 7:30pm

The Nashville Jazz Workshop

Acclaimed as a “Percussionist of rare versatility” and for compositions with “Deep Story Telling Expressiveness”, Percussionist and Composer John Arrucci returns to the Nashville Jazz Workshop after a thrilling debut as leader on vibraphone. This time, Arrucci leads his trio from the drums, joined by pianist Jon Cowherd and bassist Viktor Krauss.

Arrucci  has appeared on four continents in performances and/or records alongside such notables as Michael Brecker, Mariah Carey, John Patitucci, Gil Goldstein, Oliver Lake, Richard Bona, Jane Ira Bloom, Gary Versace, David Byrne and Bob Brookmeyer.

In New York, he has taken the stage at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Symphony Space, the United Nations, Merkin Hall and other renowned Jazz venues.

Arrucci and his quartet will present three world premieres and also draw from his extensive repertoire of original music. Don’t miss this extraordinary event!

“As an artist,  I feel the urge to expand even what I perceive as “ melody, harmony, rhythm”, all the while pursuing the aesthetic that makes appearances in my dreams.  The creative forces that I most admire are those whose curiosity and courage explored new frontiers, and propel the rest of us with them- Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Miró, Stanley Kubrick…”

Arrucci is noted for his brief, pithy introductions that take you into the mind and imagination behind the music, opening the gate to some of the most arresting new dimensions in jazz.

Jon Cowherd is a versatile jazz pianist, composer, and producer known for his lyrical touch and genre-blending artistry. A native of Paducah, Kentucky, he co-founded the acclaimed Brian Blade Fellowship, contributing to its rich, cinematic sound. Cowherd has collaborated with legends such as Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, and Cassandra Wilson. His solo albums, including Mercy and Pride & Joy, showcase his sophisticated compositional voice and deeply expressive playing, making him a vital force in modern jazz.

Viktor Krauss is a Nashville-based bassist, composer, and producer known for his genre-spanning collaborations with artists like Lyle Lovett, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and James Taylor. A skilled instrumentalist and creative force, his solo work blends jazz, Americana, and rock—most notably on his acclaimed album Far From Enough. A Sundance Film Composers Lab fellow, Krauss also composes music for film and NPR, establishing himself as a versatile and sought-after figure in contemporary American music.
