Wendy Moten Sings Richard Whiting and Other Gems
Saturday, November 14, 2026, 7:30 PM
Nashville Jazz Workshop
Some songs are so familiar that we forget somebody had to write them. Richard Whiting wrote a lot of them. Working with lyricists Johnny Mercer and Leo Robin, he gave us "Hooray for Hollywood," "Too Marvelous for Words," "Louise," "My Ideal," "Beyond the Blue Horizon," and "Sleepy Time Gal," songs that have been recorded by everyone from Maurice Chevalier to Frank Sinatra and kept alive by generations of jazz musicians.
On Saturday, November 14, Wendy Moten brings that catalog to the Jazz Cave for an intimate evening of his music, joined by pianist and music director Clay Perry, bassist David Santos, and guitarist Andy Reiss. Wendy is a genre-defying vocalist known for her performances on NBC's The Voice and her signature hit "Come In Out of the Rain." A Memphis native, she has toured the world with Kirk Whalum, Michael McDonald, Julio Iglesias, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, John Oates, and Vince Gill. She has been a member of the Grammy-winning Texas swing band The Time Jumpers for over seven years, has performed more than 40 times at the Grand Ole Opry, and has been a sold-out favorite at New York's Birdland Jazz Club since her debut there in May 2022. She is also a Memphis Beale Street Brass Note honoree and the newest inductee into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.
Whether she's singing soul, jazz, country, or pop, Wendy brings grace, power, and an unforgettable voice to every song. These are melodies built for a singer like that. Expect the well-loved standards, a few surprises, and some stories about the man behind the music.
Join us at the Nashville Jazz Workshop for a night of great songs in one of the best listening rooms in town.
