This course is designed for both people who already love jazz and those who are new to jazz and curious about it. No musical background is necessary. I love sharing jazz with new listeners.

Each of our meetings will consist of listening to two or three of Miles Davis's seminal recordings in depth. As we listen to the music, I’ll use my horn and the piano for live demos. You’ll experience how improvisation works and discover practical strategies for deepening your listening experience. Finally, we’ll explore the meaning of his music and life for us. What does Miles say to our lives through his sound and story?

Jazz can change lives. It’s full of freedom. It can inspire new thoughts about how to be in this world.

Hope to see you!

Kyle

PS. Our exploration may also be of interest to all kinds of professional artists and arts educators. We find new ways to connect art to life.
