Youth Summer Jazz Camp 2026

June 1–4, 2026 · Montgomery Bell Academy · Nashville, TN

The Nashville Jazz Workshop's Summer Jazz Camp 2026 takes place at Montgomery Bell Academy's beautiful facilities in Nashville, where expert faculty deliver specialized instruction and ensemble experience built to meet our community’s needs. Thanks to feedback from hundreds of students and directors across Middle Tennessee, this camp takes an intensive focus on improvisation — for students at every level. We know how hard it is to carve out time for this kind of study during the school year, and this is your chance for deep, focused learning in the foundational tools of the jazz vocabulary.

Who should apply?

  • Students in grades 6-12

  • Vocalists and instrumentalists of all skill levels

  • Young musicians who want to strengthen their understanding of jazz in an immersive, supportive environment this summer.

Each camp day will run from 9AM-4PM.

Expert Faculty

Students will learn from our expert faculty, who are not only exceptional musicians but also dedicated educators. From college professors to touring artists, our instructors provide the highest quality jazz education for your student.

Specialized Instruction

Students will receive specialized instruction on technique and jazz vocabulary. Camp coursework is structured progressively:

  • Music Theory Foundations — Building the core concepts that make sense of jazz harmony and rhythm

  • Theory in Practice — Applying those concepts directly to improvisation in a hands-on setting

  • Improvisation Through Repertoire — Developing your voice as a soloist through classic jazz standards

Ensemble Experience

At the heart of jazz is communication, collaboration, and connection. Students will practice these skills in an ensemble setting, learning to listen deeply as well express themselves freely.
