Born in Havana and trained at the city's prestigious Manuel Saumell Conservatory, pianist Melvin Macias carries jazz in his blood and Cuba in his bones. After a remarkable career spanning Miami's Latin music scene -- where he shared stages with Celia Cruz and toured with Juan Gabriel -- and over a decade as a featured pianist at Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel, Macias landed in Nashville with a mission: to bring people together through the full sweep of Afro-Cuban jazz. His quintet delivers original compositions and high-energy arrangements that draw on straight-ahead jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and Brazilian sounds, all shaped by a lifetime of musical wandering and a deep sense of artistic identity.
