Lori Mechem presents “A Charlie Brown Christmas”
December 6, 2025
Join the Lori Mechem Quartet for a swingin’ evening celebrating the timeless music of Vince Guaraldi’s A Charlie Brown Christmas. Few holiday soundtracks are as beloved—or as instantly recognizable—as Guaraldi’s 1965 jazz score for the classic Peanuts special. From the playful bounce of “Linus and Lucy” to the tender warmth of “Christmas Time Is Here,” this music has become a cherished part of the season for generations, blending childlike wonder with sophisticated jazz harmony.
A respected pianist, composer, and educator, Lori Mechem has been at the heart of Nashville’s jazz community for decades. Along with her husband, bassist Roger Spencer, she co-founded the Nashville Jazz Workshop, helping to shape and sustain the city’s vibrant jazz scene. Lori’s career includes performances with legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Red Holloway, Jimmy Smith, Cal Collins, Roy McCurdy, Terry Gibbs, Pete Christlieb, Ed Thigpen, Houston Person, Kirk Whalum, and Marvin Stamm, among many others.
Returning to the Jazz Cave for this festive performance, Lori leads a stellar quartet featuring Roger Spencer (bass), Andy Reiss (guitar), and Chris Brown (drums). Together, they bring to life the spirit and swing of Guaraldi’s iconic score—capturing both its joyous groove and its quiet, nostalgic beauty.
Whether you’re a lifelong Peanuts fan or simply love great jazz, this concert is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
