Joshua Constantine: Celebrating Miles & Trane at 100

2026 marks 100 years since the births of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, two of the most influential voices in jazz history and one of its most important musical partnerships. Joshua Constantine brings his band to the Nashville Jazz Workshop for an evening built entirely around that legacy — the sound of two giants pushing each other, and the music, forward.

A saxophonist and bandleader rooted in straight-ahead and soul jazz, Constantine has built a growing following through live performance and online platforms (10,000+ on Instagram, 20,000+ on YouTube). He teaches at Cumberland University, working with students ranging from non-majors in music appreciation courses to music history and woodwind students.

For this program, Constantine and his band — saxophone, trumpet, and a swinging piano trio — dig into the Davis/Coltrane songbook the way the band always works: learned and memorized straight from the records, no charts. Expect Milestones-era classics (Milestones, Two Bass Hit, Billy Boy, featuring the piano trio), staples from Kind of Blue (So What, All Blues, Flamenco Sketches), Dear Old Stockholm and It Never Entered My Mind in the Miles arrangements, Constantine's own Central Park West, and If I Were a Bell in 3/4 from Relaxin' with Miles.
