Juneteenth Weekend at the Jazz Cave: Rod McGaha presents Sound as Liberation Sessions

This Juneteenth weekend, the Jazz Cave hosts two nights with Nashville and D.C. based sound and visual artist Rod McGaha. A pair of performances built around freedom, family, and the act of creation itself.

On Friday, June 19, McGaha presents the inaugural Sound as Liberation Sessions: In the Spirit of Miles. An entirely improvised evening inspired by the fearless innovation of Miles Davis in his centennial year, paired with original video projections and visual art throughout the venue.

On Saturday, June 20, McGaha is joined by his son, Mike Floss, for Regeneration. A father and son collaboration weaving music, spoken word, and conversation into a meditation on multigenerational dialogue, healing, and creative expression in the Black community.

McGaha's work explores the resilience, grace, and joy of Black people, with a particular focus on the experiences and contributions of Black women. Through photography, music, and installation, he tells stories of healing, strength, and freedom.

Two nights. Two distinct programs. One Juneteenth weekend you will not want to miss.
