Kirk Whalum Community
Artist Residency at the
Jazz Cave April 20-22,
2006
World-class saxophonist
(and NJW Board Member)
Kirk Whalum brought his
joyous style and deep
groove to the Workshop for
a jazz-filled weekend.
Concert performances
Friday and Saturday
evening played to packed
houses. The Master Class
Saturday afternoon gave an
opportunity to hear Kirk's
philosophy, approach to the
music, and tips on playing
and practicing. The
weekend closed with a
Young People's Concert on
Sunday afternoon for
children of all ages that
brought down the house.
Kirk is a true ambassador of
jazz, and we're fortunate to
have him in our community!
This residency took place
under a grant from the
Community Foundation of
Middle Tennessee
