Snap on 2&4 w/ Beegie Adair and George Tidwell
Friday, April 13
The Jazz Cave
Nashville Jazz Workshop, 1319 Adams Street
Our next Snap on 2&4 concert is Friday, April 13 and features two of Nashville's most iconic figures in jazz: pianist Beegie Adair and trumpeter George Tidwell.
From her early days on WSM TV and radio, and later as the staff keyboardist on ABC's The Johnny Cash Show, through her radio show "Improvised Thoughts" in the 90's, to today, Beegie Adair continues to establish herself as a true bastion of Nashville's music scene. As a recording artist, her extensive collection of songwriter series CD's are critically acclaimed and her international releases have made her a sensation. Beegie's Japan-only release "My Piano Romance" was that country's #1 selling Jazz Album in 2010 and stayed at #1 on the charts for more than 3 weeks. All three of the albums she released in Japan in 2010 with the Beegie Adair trio spent significant time in the top 10.
George Tidwell moved to Nashville from Memphis in 1963 and has had a legendary career as a studio musician, lending his talents as trumpeter and arranger to literally hundreds of recordings. He led many acclaimed Nashville groups, including (along with Beegie Adair and Denis Solee) the Part-Time, Big-Time, Be-bop Co-op, and is a mainstay of the trumpet sections of the Nashville Jazz Orchestra and Duffy Jackson Big Band.
Backing the leaders will be the other members of Beegie's renowned trio - bassist Roger Spencer and drummer Chris Brown. One of the tightest trios in the world, they just finished up recording their 33rd CD together!
The first set starts at 8pm. Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Monday, April 9 at 242-5299. Admission for this event is $20, or $10 for students with ID.
High School & College Students: $10.00
